Flame Chub (Hemitremia flammea)

Description:

The Flame Chub is primarily found in the Tennessee and Cumberland river drainages, in Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky, with a disjunct population in the Coosa River System in Alabama. They are found in springs and headwater streams, and they move to larger creeks in the non-breeding season. As the common name suggests, breeding male Flame Chubs develop bright red coloration on the belly.
