The Naked Goby is found along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts from Massachusetts to Mexico. They are found over muddy substrate with vegetation in brackish water, occasionally entering freshwater tidal creeks. As the common name suggests, Naked Gobies have no scales on their body. While all gobies resemble darters, they can be distinguished by having fused pelvic fins.
