The Bigeye Shiner has a disjunct range in the Ozark and Ouachita uplands from Missouri and Kansas south to Louisiana, as well as Lake Erie and Ohio River drainages, including the Tennessee and Cumberland rivers in Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky. They are found in clear pools of creeks and small to medium rivers. As the common name suggests, Bigeye Shiners have big eyes.
