Blackside Snubnose Darter (Etheostoma duryi)

The Blackside Snubnose Darter is widespread throughout the Tennessee River Drainage in Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. They live in rocky pools with bedrock substrate. As the common name suggests, Blackside Snubnose Darters have black blotches connected by a black stripe along their side. Like many members of the Snubnose Darter group, Blackside Snubnose Darters have a bright red dot in the first membrane of their first dorsal fin and a blunt snout.
