Bluebreast Darter (Etheostoma camurum)

The Bluebreast Darter is widespread throughout the Ohio River Drainage from Alabama to New York, including the Tennessee and Cumberland river drainages. They are found in rocky riffles and runs of medium to large rivers. As the common name suggests, breeding males have bright blue coloration on their breast and head. Like many other members of the subgenus Nothonotus, Bluebreast Darters have a moderately pointed snout.
