Blueface Darter (Etheostoma cyanoprosopum)

The Blueface Darter is restricted to the upper Sipsey Fork of the Mobile Basin and the upper Bear Creek System of the Tennessee River Drainage in Alabama. Like many members of the Snubnose Darter group, they have a blunt snout, and they reside in the transition zone from pools to riffles. As the common name suggests, breeding male Blueface Darters have bright blue coloration on their head.
