Clinch Dace (Chrosomus sp. cf. saylori)

The Clinch Dace is an undescribed species primarily found in tributaries to the upper Tennessee River drainage in southwest Virginia and northeast Tennessee. This species faces threats from mining impacts on its habitat. They are found in pools of headwater streams. Like other members of the redbelly dace group, male Clinch Daces develop bright breeding colors in the early spring with yellow fins and a red belly.
