Coosa Darter (Etheostoma coosae)

As the common name suggests, the Coosa Darter is widespread in the Coosa River System in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. They are found over cobble and gravel in pools and riffles of creeks to medium rivers. Like many members of the Snubnose Darter group, Coosa Darters have a bright red dot in the first membrane of their first dorsal fin and have a blunt snout.
