Lipstick Darter (Etheostoma chuckwachatte)

The Lipstick Darter is restricted to upland areas of the Tallapoosa River System in Alabama and Georgia. They are found in rocky riffles and runs of creeks to medium rivers. As the common name suggests, breeding male Lipstick Darters have bright red coloration on their lips. Like many other members of the subgenus Nothonotus, Lipstick Darters have a moderately pointed snout.
