Ohio Lamprey (Ichthyomyzon bdellium)

As the common name suggests, the Ohio Lamprey is found in Ohio River Drainages from Tennessee to New York. As adults, they live in medium to large rivers, but larvae (ammocoetes) are found in streams along banks in soft substrate. Ohio Lampreys are parasitic, meaning they feed as adults by attaching to fish using suction from their oral disc and grasping flesh with the teeth on their mouth and tongue.
