Orangespotted Sunfish (Lepomis humilis)

The Orangespotted Sunfish is found throughout the central United States, including the Tennessee and Cumberland river drainages. They live in pools of creeks to large rivers associated with structure. As the common name suggests, Orangespotted Sunfish have orange spots along their sides. Like other species of the genus Lepomis, males build nests by fanning the gravel or sand substrate with their tail.
