Striped Darter (Etheostoma virgatum)

The Striped Darter is found in the upper Cumberland River Drainage below Cumberland Falls in central Kentucky. They are found in stony, slab-rock pools in creeks to medium rivers. As with other members of the Barcheek Darter group, Striped Darters have a light iridescent bar on their cheek. As the common name suggests, Striped Darters have horizontal stripes formed by a series of brown dots along their side.
