Striped Mullet (Mugil cephalus)

The Striped Mullet is widespread along the Atlantic, Gulf, and Pacific coasts, as well as inland in large rivers, extending into Oklahoma and Kentucky. They are found in a variety of open-water habitats. Striped Mullets are detritivores, meaning they eat decaying organic material. They have two small widely spaced dorsal fins on their back and a small mouth.
