As the common name suggests, the Duck Darter is restricted to the Duck River system in west-central Tennessee. They live in rocky pools with bedrock substrate. They have a bright red dot in the first membrane of their first dorsal fin, and like many members of the Snubnose Darter group, their snouts are very blunt.
