The Highfin Goby is found along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts from North Carolina to southern Brazil. They are found over muddy substrate in brackish water, occasionally entering freshwater tidal creeks. While all gobies resemble darters, they can be distinguished by having fused pelvic fins.
