As the common name suggests, the Gulf Logperch is found in Gulf Coast drainages from Louisiana to Alabama, including lowland streams in the Mobile Basin in Mississippi and Alabama. While they live in a variety of habitats, they typically are found over gravel substrate in runs of large creeks to medium rivers. As with other members of the logperch group, Gulf Logperches have a pointed snout that they use to flip over rocks for feeding.
