Muscadine Darter
Percina smithvanizi
About This Fish

The Muscadine Darter is found in upland streams in the Tallapoosa River System of the Mobile Basin in Alabama and Georgia. They live over gravel substrate in pools and the heads of riffles in creeks to medium rivers. While most darters are found on stream bottoms, members of the genus Percina tend to be found higher in the water column because they retain a swim bladder.
