The Warioto Darter is found in the Cumberland River Drainage from the Red River System to below Cumberland Falls. It is found in slow-moving sections, usually pools and stream banks with sandy or rocky substrate, of small to medium fast-moving rivers. The common name of the Warioto Darter comes from the Shawnee name for the Cumberland River.
