The Stone Darter is found in the lower Cumberland River Drainage in Kentucky and Tennessee. As the common name suggests, Stone Darters prefers habitat with stony, slab-rock pools. As with other members of the Barcheek Darter group, Stone Darters have a light iridescent bar on the cheek.
