The Banded Topminnow is found along the Gulf Coasts in Alabama and Florida, including the lower Mobile Basin. They live in shallow waters of streams, sloughs, swamps, and even temporary waters. As the common name suggests, Banded Topminnows have a series of bands along their side. As with all topminnows, they live at the top of the water column.
