The Bandfin Shiner is found in the Apalachicola River Drainage Georgia, Alabama, and Florida, as well as in isolated populations in adjacent drainages including the Coosa River Drainage in Georgia and the Tallapoosa River Drainage in Georgia and Alabama. As its common name suggests, Bandfin Shiners have a black band in the middle of their dorsal fin, which is reddish orange in juveniles.
