The Bayou Topminnow is found in Gulf Coast drainages from Louisiana to Florida and isolated populations in tributaries to the lower Mississippi River. As the common name suggests, Bayou Topminnows are found in bayous and backwaters of small streams. They have dark bars along their side and red spots on their fins and side. As with all topminnows, they live at the top of the water column.
