About This Fish

The Bluntface Shiner is primarily found in tributaries to the lower Mississippi River but also occurs in western tributaries to the lower Tennessee River in Tennessee. They are found in both pools and runs of creeks to medium rivers in a variety of water clarity. Most individuals have a white or clear bar on the base of their tail. Like other members of its genus, Bluntface Shiners have diamond-shaped scales and spawn in crevices.
