Bridled Darter
Percina kusha
About This Fish

The Bridled Darter is found in the upper Coosa River System of the Mobile Basin in Georgia and Tennessee. They live over gravel substrate in pools and the heads of riffles in small to medium rivers. As the common name suggests, Bridled Darters have a stripe across their snout that resembles a horse bridle. While most darters are found on stream bottoms, members of the genus Percina tend to be found higher in the water column because they retain a swim bladder.
