The Bullhead Minnow is found across central North America from Mexico to Minnesota, including the Mobile Basin, Tennessee, and Cumberland river drainages. They live over soft or gravel substrate in a variety of currents in creeks to large rivers. Breeding male Bullhead Minnows develop breeding tubercles, horny projections used in spawning, on their snout.
