Chucky Madtom
Noturus crypticus
About This Fish

The Chucky Madtom is a federally endangered species that is restricted to the Tennessee River Drainage in northern Alabama and eastern Tennessee. Unfortunately, this species has only been collected in one creek system this century. They live in rocky pools and riffles of small to medium creeks. As members of the catfish family, all madtoms have whiskers (barbels) around their mouth with taste buds that aid in finding food. Like all members of the genus Noturus, Chucky Madtoms are smaller catfish reaching a maximum size of three inches.
