The Diamond Killifish is found along the Gulf Coast of the United States from Texas to Florida. They are found in brackish water on barrier islands and in coastal backwaters associated with vegetation and soft, muddy substrate. As the common name suggests, Diamond Killifish have a diamond-shaped body. Diamond Killifish exhibit a distinctive posturing that signals other individuals to clean parasites off of them.
