The Fluvial Shiner is restricted to the Coastal Plain of the Mobile Basin in Alabama and Mississippi. As the common name suggests, they are found in main channels of large rivers. Fluvial Shiners have a silver side, which is lacking pigment and gives them a shiny appearance.
