The Golden Topminnow is found along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts from Texas to South Carolina, including the lower Mobile Basin. They live in slow waters of streams, sloughs, and swamps with vegetation. As the common name suggests, Golden Topminnows have golden flecks and a golden wash on their body and fins. As with all topminnows, they live at the top of the water column.
