The Lake Chubsucker is found in the Great Lakes area from Wisconsin to New York and in the Coastal Plain and Mississippi Embayment from Virginia to Texas. They are found in backwater and undercut banks in creeks and small rivers. Like other members of their genus, Erimyzon, they lack a lateral line. Breeding males get large, horny tubercles on their snout.
