The Pygmy Killifish is found in Gulf and Atlantic coast drainages from Mississippi to Georgia, including the Mobile Basin. They live in backwaters of creeks to small rivers and swamps associated with aquatic vegetation. As the common name suggests, Pygmy Killifish are one of the smallest fish in the Southeast reaching a maximum size of 1.25 inches.
