The Rainwater Killifish is found in Gulf and Atlantic coast drainages from Texas to Massachusetts, including the Mobile Basin, and inland in the Rio Grande Drainage to New Mexico. They live in slow-moving vegetated water and are tolerant of a wide range of salinity. In the southern part of their range they spawn year round.
