The Redspot Darter is found in Gulf Coast drainages from Texas to Alabama, including the Mobile Basin. They occur in riffles of headwater streams to small rivers. As the common name suggests, Redspot Darters have red spots along their side. In addition, males have striking bright blue edges on all of their fins during the breeding season.
