The Saltmarsh Topminnow is found along the Gulf Coast from Texas to Florida, including the lower Mobile Basin. As the common name suggests, Saltmarsh Topminnows are typically found in salt marshes and tidal pools but also occur in fresh water. Compared to other topminnows, Saltmarsh Topminnows have a longer snout. As with all topminnows, they live at the top of the water column.
