Threadfin Shad
Dorosoma petenense
About This Fish

The Threadfin Shad is a wide-ranging species throughout the Southeast. Because they were introduced widely as forage fish, their native distribution is uncertain. The last ray of the dorsal fin is extremely elongated in members of this genus. Because Threadfin Shads are intolerant of cool temperatures, they experience winter die-off.
