About This Fish

The Highland Shiner is restricted to the Green, Cumberland and Tennessee river drainages. As the common name suggests, Highland Shiners are found in more upland habitats in flowing pools and runs of creeks to medium rivers. Breeding male Highland Shiners have red coloration on their head, body, and fins.
