About This Fish

The Rock Bass is widespread in Eastern North America from the Tennessee River Drainage north to Hudson Bay Drainages. They have also been introduced to the east, south, and west of their native range. They are found in creeks to medium rivers over a variety of substrates, usually associated with cover. During the spawning season in the spring, males fan out a depression in the substrate with their tail to make a nest for females to lay eggs in.
