The Smallmouth Bass is found throughout central North America in the Hudson Bay, Great Lakes-St. Lawrence, and Mississippi River drainages, including the Tennessee and Cumberland river drainages. They have been introduced widely beyond their native range. They live in clear, rocky, flowing pools of rivers and shallow, rocky areas of lakes and reservoirs.
