Spotted Bass
Micropterus punctuatus
About This Fish

The Spotted Bass is found in many Gulf Coast drainages from Texas to Florida, except for the Mobile Basin, as well as the Mississippi and Ohio river drainages, including the Tennessee and Cumberland river drainages. They have been introduced widely beyond their native range. They live in clear, rocky, flowing pools of rivers and shallow, rocky areas of lakes and reservoirs. As the common name suggests, Spotted Basses have rows of small spots on the lower half of their body.
