About This Fish

The Spotted Sucker is widespread across eastern North America including Gulf and Atlantic coast drainages from Texas to North Carolina, including the Mobile Basin, as well as Great Lakes and Mississippi river drainages from Louisiana to Minnesota, including the Tennessee and Cumberland river drainages. They live in deep pools of creeks to medium rivers over sand or gravel substrate. As the common name suggests, Spotted Suckers have rows of dark spots along their back and sides.
