The Striped Shiner is found in central North America from Louisiana to Ontario, including the Mobile Basin, Tennessee, and Cumberland river drainages. They live in pools of small to medium creeks. As the common name suggests, Striped Shiners have stripes on their upper sides that meet to form V’s on their backs.
